Miscellaneous Fees Explanations - 2014-2015
Early Success Program (ESP) Fee
The Early Success Program Fee is charged to all new incoming students accepted to RMU into the Early Success Program. The fee covers the cost of the one-week learning experience and orientation, and instructional materials, cultural activities, social events, service project expenses and educational seminars during the student's first academic year.
Graduation Fee
A Graduation Fee is payable at the time a student applies for graduation. This fee is due regardless of the student's participation in commencement.
Handheld Computer Fee
The Handheld Computer Fee is used for the necessary hardware and software needed to provide a handheld computer to the nursing student. This computer will be used in both the clinical and classroom settings.
International Student Fee
The International Student Programs and Support Services Fee supports the cost of providing comprehensive academic, personal and cultural programs and support services and activities to international students each semester. This once per semester fee is charged to all international students and is due regardless of the student's participation in the programs, services and activities.
Microsoft Certification Fee
The Microsoft Certification Fee applies only to certain courses as noted in the course schedule book.
National Council Licensure Examination Fee (NCLEX)
The NCLEX Fee is used to cover the Kaplan deluxe program package that includes: a preparation manual, assessment test for all clinical courses, online review materials and the Kaplan Prep Course and materials.
Orientation Fee
The Orientation Fee covers the cost of informational materials and handouts, the orientation program and other administrative costs. This one time fee is charged to new freshmen and transfer undergraduate students who enter during the Fall semester. This fee pays for all services rendered and is due regardless of the student's participation at orientation.
Online Course Fee
The Online Course Fee allows students access into the actual online classroom and pays for the IT Help Desk and technical support.
Technology Fee
The Technology Fee helps to defray the cost of technological upgrades, classroom and computer laboratory enhancements, and the purchase of necessary software.
University Services Fee
The University Services Fee is used for general University support and helps to defray the costs for online services, library facilities and administrative services.
Residence Hall Association Fee
The Residence Hall Association Fee is charged to all resident students to help defray the costs associated with educational, cultural and developmental programs and services in the Residence Halls.
Student Government Association Fee
The Student Government Association Fee is charged to all traditional undergraduate students each semester. The fee is used to defray the costs of social, leadership, cultural and professional development groups sponsored by the Student Government Association and is used to provide funding to student clubs and organizations recognized by the Association.
Simulation Lab Fee
The Simulation Lab Fee is necessary to cover the costs of disposable supplies and maintenance of the simulation mannequins Simulation experiences occur in most clinical undergraduate nursing courses and selected graduate nursing courses.
